While I was stationed and waited to be deployed I would read all the things that were happening in the United States in magazines and news papers. Around the United States woman started to do "men work" like becoming mechanics, work in coal mines, and even work in factories. They also had to take care of the kids all by themselves. Every thing in the U.S. was rationed like food and sent to the soldiers. In 1944 penicillin was successful and changed the face of medicine. One of the major events in the U.S. was that Japanese immigrants and Japanese descendants suspected of loyalty to their homeland were sent to internment camps in remote locations around the United States. The American President Franklin Delanor Roosevelt (FDR) later died in 1945.
